Conte crayons


Crayons belong to oldest art materials on the planet. It was enough to mix  coloured (earth) powder with some fat to start drawing.

Advice 1
work on toned paper to achieve full power of these simple tools

Advice 2
start with neutral colours, add dark tones and finalize with highlights
Advice 3
Use conte crayons to draw 3D forms, atmosphere and space.

PAPER


The most decisive aspect of drawing is having a good paper. Many great ideas were left unrealized (or poorly developed) due to a bad paper choice. 

Advice 1
buy good paper, as the most expensive is poor quality paper which ends in a garbage.

Advice 2
touch the paper before buying, as image cannot justify true texture. 
Advice 3
name your sketchbook. This way you will have focus and explore deeper your subjects.

INKS

Inks are possibly the greatest historic paradigm, as they affected the way we live and survive on this planet. All knowledge and events, form signing a peace or marriage agreements are written in inks. Without inks, history would be different, for better or for worse.

Advice 1
buy paper that reflects your ink technique (smooth for pens and heavy for washes)

Advice 2
test your tools and techniques on a same kind of paper as your drawing

Advice 3
be present and confident while drawing, embrace accidents and take advantage of mistakes
